I write this blog post with all the love and appreciation for your journey that I can possibly muster. I sincerely hope that you take my message as a profound wake-up call meant to help you observe and enjoy the magnificence of life.
I remember when I got my wake-up call…
It was a morning like any other morning; the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I had full day ahead of me. As I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth, I looked in the mirror and something strange had happened. Although the woman staring back at me through the mirror was me, I still had no idea who she was.
She didn’t look like me. She looked like a woman who was wondering how the hell she got there. She looked like a woman who was tired and worn down by life. She looked like a woman that had give up on her dreams…
That was the day I made the decision to change.
That was the day I made the decision to change my life.
That was the day I made the decision to become free.
I made the decision to do whatever it took to get me out of that hot mess, and hopefully into a better life.
Why am I telling you this? Because this is what I know:
If you do not make the decision to commit to yourself and to your dreams; if you do not make the decision to engage with life and SAY YES to opportunities, to help, to growth… then you will still belong to that group of people who always talk about achieving something but rarely do.
Engaging with life is always uncomfortable
Growing will stretch you to the very limits of what you think you’re capable of
You will get scared
You will be triggered
You may even get mad and start projecting that anger onto others
But the truth is that all that “suffering” (i.e., that discomfort) does not even compare to the suffering, the pain and the frustration of living a life you do not want to live.
So for today, this is what I would like for you to do:
1. Stop avoiding challenges. Yes, growth is not comfortable and stepping up is always scary. Yes it is expensive, and you will have to pay for help, but the gifts you will get are something that no one will ever be able to take away from you. The gift you get from overcoming those challenges is the person you become during that process; and there is nothing like the payoff of living a life of COMPLETE freedom.
2. Seek constant growth. This is absolutely a must. You must be constantly looking to grow, to expand, to educate yourself, to stretch, to hire mentors, to pay for education, to hire help.
I believe there are two kind of people in this world; those who see challenges and those who see opportunities, it is as simple as that.
For those that seek challenges, all they can see is an insurmountable challenge whenever a roadblock appears in their life. Soon, they start seeing challenges everywhere; and all the reasons as to why they cannot move forward start to pile up and they stop. They stop at their limitations and they stay in that place for a long period of time; and believe me when I say that I know the feeling. I used to be one of those people that did that; and while it may not be a conscious action, the results are still the same.
Now those that see opportunities; these people face the same challenges and the same roadblocks, BUT when they see them they immediately think:
“How can I make this work?”
“How can I solve this problem?”
“How can I overcome this challenge?”
“How can I get the resources I need to go after what I want?”
Seeing opportunities instead of challenges will make a world of difference with how you operate; and the crazy thing is that it really is all just a matter of your mindset and ability to focus.
3. Stop talking yourself out of your success. I have seen countless instances where someone KNOWS on a cellular level they must do something. They want to do something; they have a desire to change, to be more, and eventually that desire gets them in front of the person who can help actually help them…
…and then they stop. They doubt, they worry, they get triggered because the help is expensive; and so, they stop. Just think how far away would you be right now if you were not doubting yourself, if you were not procrastinating in moving forward with what you already know you need and want to do, if you trusted the process and just made the decision to say yes to opportunity when it presents itself.
4. Make the decision to engage with life. Push the limits of what you believe you are capable of, go after your dreams, stop being the person someone once told you you are, and be determined to become the person you truly are!
You have greatness within you; if you did not, I have no doubt that you would not even be reading this message. You may not still be able to see it, but I can. I can see the potential in you; I can see the potential of you having everything you desire and more, you just need to decide to fully engage and make the decision to go after your dreams.
Success is a game, but it is never a game of comfort; it is always a game of stretching, of growing, of peeling off the layers of who you thought you were and becoming the person you were meant to be.
You cannot get to the finish line, if you keep putting off getting to the starting line…
If you are ready to run the race of your life, if you are determined to succeed, I would love to show you how.
